Todburn Equestrian Centre was officially opened by Pippa Funnell in June 2007.

Todburn Equestrian Centre is owned and run by Elaine and Ian Carmichael on their family farm in Northumberland. Ian and Elaine, having been involved with horses for many years, decided the time was right to diversify their farming business and offer a new competition venue to riders in the surrounding areas and beyond.

Ian enjoyed success teamchasing with the Forge Flyers as well as Point to Pointing in the Northern Area. He was previously Joint Master and Field Master of the Morpeth Hunt.

Elaine having show jumped as a junior, met Ian whilst teamchasing herself with the Border Raiders at the UK championships. Elaine has evented a range of horses including several homebred ones.

They both support their daughter, Emma, in her eventing career. Emma started out in FEI Pony Trials producing and competing Done and Dusted and The Little Big Man, being part of the GB Pony A squad. She has gone on to compete at CCI2* level on several home produced horses, as well as continuing to school and produce up and coming ponies including Mr Moon and Howen Loganberry. This season Emma aims her top horse at Advanced level.

Both Emma and Elaine have UKCC qualifications and coach a range of riders of all abilities.

Ian enjoys watching their son, Liam, playing rugby for Morpeth RFC.
